SKILLED ART ENGENHO & ARTE   :: Defining art is not an easy task and may be an impossible one. Nonetheless, it can be stated that experiencing art inevitably implies transformations of consciousness. Artists have specialized on developing technologies and implementing techniques in the design of artistic experiences. Therefore, in the present context of consciousness studies, artists are emerging as relevant contributors. Being technologies a consequence of scientific developments, artistic practice becomes an interesting experimental method for the generation of new knowledge. Art is transdisciplinary by nature, independently of the channels of expression used. Strategies are needed for the integration of this ways of thinking amongst different scientific communities and within civil society. The aim of this conference is to discuss principles to be applied in the creation of these strategies and in consequent future transdisciplinary practices. :: Definir arte não é tarefa fácil e poderá ser até mesmo impossível. Porém, é seguro afirmar que o acto de experimentar a arte implica inevitavelmente transformações de consciência. Os artistas especializaram-se na implementação de tecnologias e técnicas no design das experiências artísticas, dando um importante contributo ao actual contexto dos estudos da consciência. Sendo a tecnologia uma consequência dos avanços científicos, a prática artística é um interessante método experimental para a nova geração do conhecimento. A arte é transdisciplinar por natureza, independentemente dos canais de expressão utilizados. Dada esta sua característica, são necessárias estratégias de aproximação entre as diversas comunidades científicas e destas com a sociedade civil. O objectivo desta conferência é discutir os princípios a aplicar na criação destas estratégias e, por sua vez, em futuras práticas transdisciplinares.
